& GOD PROTECT US FROM OURSELVES
Sites: Haulashore Island in Nelson Harbour and the industrial area around the Inner Harbour in Dunedin, 2005.
Participant in the site-specific project Terminus '05 curated by Ali Bramwell, with national and international artists.
I was interested in the idea of Mainland and island separation, specifically in Gondwanaland theory, and species developing in isolation and introduced species. In these two works I refer directly to the threat of introduced species with a layered and tongue-in-cheek look at 'a new world order'. The individuals pieces were produced (including taxidermy) and found objects sourced (miniature shopping trolleys and old New World Supermarket sign) before the public exhibitions took place. During the set up of the works in the two respective locations the installation the specific sites further developed the works referrals in interesting ways.
