in ‘some plus one’, Segue Gallery, Dunedin, 2005.

Bootup & Mobilize suggested the dislocation of the reality of war (limbs torn apart, blood splattered, disembowelment, burning skin) as US soldiers bulldozed their way through Iraq in tanks equipped with video screens (simulators of the outside world) which we then viewed on our TV screens in the safety of our living rooms. The talking heads / an outpost / BIG BROTHER / gone AWOL / Mai-mai.

Video installation and object, 30 sec video loop and mixed media.

The looping of the audio a response to a series of President Bush's ironic quotes during the war on Iraq including...
"See, in my line of work you got to keep repeating things over and over and over again for the truth to sink in, to kind of catapult the propaganda." --Greece, N.Y., May 24, 2005 (Listen to audio)
